Freewrite August 12th, 2024 by Sophia Falco
If the sun ever got tired, I would want to be the last to know—
in this frame of mind; the glow on a few strands of my hair,
swaying in the wind this hour soft light people peopling on the beach.
This breeze didn’t carry away my worries or my sadness
triggered by sightseeing rocks, especially the one engraved
“RIP” then I turned away un-immune to reminders of depression.
I was startled by the honk of a horn, that man acting a little
too off in his red shirt and jeans (had to get away), but what
lovely scenery yet childish adults throwing sand not
bearing their heads in it like a poet said earlier today.
I’m wondering about the mothership, but I know I need to stop
wondering about it and that lone sailboat at sea facing away from me.
